What we are
Since its founding in 1988, Epicenter Press has become a leading trade book publisher of general nonfiction titles about Alaska, and
a leading publisher of books about sled dog racing and the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
We also represent Jon Van Zyle, official Iditarod artist and member of the
Iditarod Hall of Fame.
Our Mission Statement
We are a regional press founded in Alaska whose interests included but are not limited to the arts, history, environment, diverse cultures, and lifestyles of the North Pacific and high latitudes. We seek both the traditional and innovative in publishing high-quality nonfiction trade books and gift books featuring art and photography.
Who we are
Journalists Kent Sturgis and Lael Morgan incorporated Epicenter Press Inc. in Fairbanks, Alaska, in January 1988. Sturgis is president of the company; Morgan
serves as Epicenter's acquisition editor while teaching journalism at the
University Texas Arlington. The chairman of our board of directors is B.G. Olson of Sitka, Alaska, a
retired professor of communications law retired from the University of Alaska. Other principals are
Victoria Sturgis, book and website designer who also works for the press; Dan Levant of Seattle, president of Madrona Publishers;
and Stephen Lay, a lecturer at the College of the Bahamas in Nassau, Bahamas.
Where we are
Epicenter Press Inc. was incorporated in 1988 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Its primary office is in Kenmore, Wash., just north of Seattle.
