PAM FLOWERS and her dogs have run the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and completed two expeditions to the Magnetic North Pole, as well as other adventures. In 1991, Outside magazine named Flowers an "Outsider of the Year," and she was awarded the Gold Medal from the Society of Woman Geographers in 1996. She has written numerous magazine articles on mushing and the Arctic. Flowers raises and trains sled dogs in Talkeetna, Alaska.
